Kazchrome, a subsidiary of JSC \u201cTNK Kazchrome\u201d, operates a ferrochrome production plant in Aktobe. To increase production capacity, four new SAF furnaces (submerged arc furnaces, 4 \u00d7 72 MW, annual production of 440,000 tons) were constructed. PSE supplied the entire cooling water system, the make-up water treatment system and the wastewater treatment plant with chromate removal for these furnaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cooling water system consists of two closed circuits cooled by air coolers. An open circuit was also installed, which is cooled by cooling towers. Pumping stations, emergency water pumps, dosing systems and automatic filters are also part of the plant. The scope of supply also included valves and pipework, as well as the entire electrical and automation systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A river water treatment plant was supplied to produce make-up water for the circuits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A wastewater treatment plant was also constructed to treat the water from the gas scrubber process (chromate removal through the addition of chemicals followed by filtration). After chromate removal, the water was purified by reverse osmosis so that it can be reused as make-up water in the cooling circuits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
