The underground storage facility is located in north-west Germany near Leer in the immediate vicinity of the Dutch border. The site comprises four storage locations with 21 storage caverns. In the course of the renovation of the existing natural gas storage facility, the customer decided to expand and modernize one of the existing facilities.

The planning and construction included the entire station infrastructure for the injection and withdrawal lines with the necessary auxiliary and auxiliary systems. These include the separators, heat exchangers, pressure/volume control, boiler system and gas drying and TEG regeneration plant, compressor units, fuel gas supply system, air supply system, condensate collection system, field pipes to the caverns, station vent and expansion system, MV/LV switchgear and process control system.
As part of the project, PSE was assigned for the project management, planning as well as the construction and commissioning management.
