NATURAL GAS COMPRESSOR STATION – PROJECT IN GERMANY, WÜRSELEN

On the basis of the network development plan, the customer is to build a new compressor station in the Aachen area, North Rhine-Westphalia, which is to compress the gas volumes of the existing pipelines, as well as the new pipelines "Zeelink I" and "Zeelink II" to be built.

The task of the new compressor station is primarily to compress gas volumes for north-south or south-north transport. Due to its location in the nationwide German gas network, it will play a central role in almost all river situations. In the first stage of expansion, the main component of the compressor station will be three turbo compressor units with electric drive, each with a mechanical output of 13 MW, one of which is intended as a redundancy unit. For a possible further expansion stage, the compressor station can be expanded by two compressor units as well as one input and two output measuring sections. In addition, the system consists of 5 input and 4 output measuring sections, with one separator assigned to each of the input measuring sections.

As part of the project, PSE was assigned for the project management, planning as well as the construction and commissioning management.

The planning and construction of the compressor station included the entire building and station infrastructure for the compressor units with the necessary auxiliary and ancillary systems. These include the separators, gas coolers, gas quantity / gas quality measurements and pressure/volume controls, own gas supply system, air supply system, station blower and expansion system, MV/LV switchgear, emergency power generator, process control system and telecontrol technology.
