UNDERGROUND NATURAL GAS STORAGE – PROJECT IN GERMANY, EPE

One of the most important energy service providers in the Netherlands has built a gas storage facility at its Gronau-Epe site to improve the security of supply of natural gas in the Netherlands. The gas storage facility consists of a compressor and extraction station for the process processing of the natural gas and two salt caverns to be completed as natural gas storage facilities. The two storage caverns have a working gas volume of approx. 130 million Nm³ and are connected to the above-ground facility via two field pipelines. The connection to the gas pipeline will be made via a new high-pressure pipeline to be built to the Dutch gas transmission network of Gasunie Transport Services (GTS). The operation of the plant is planned as a day and seasonal storage facility, adapted to gas demand and gas sales opportunities.

As part of the turnkey construction of the new plant, PSE was assigned by the general contractor with the project management, planning as well as the construction and commissioning management.
