The owner operates a cooling network in a chemical park in Leverkusen to supply the customers located there. The refrigeration system located in the company building consists of nine shell-and-tube heat exchangers, which are used as condensers (condensers), and 15 cooling water pumps. Age-related corrosion led to damage and leaks in the condensers. The constructive and spatially confined conditions do not allow the condensers to be rehabilitated on site. The customer therefore intends to replace all condensers and cooling water pumps.

PSE was commissioned to plan the replacement of the shell-and-tube heat exchangers for the refrigeration lines with hybrid plate heat exchangers as well as new cooling water pumps with electric drive with an automatic backwash filter in the bypass flow, a sieve in the main stream and an automatic backwash filter for the supply of process water to the recooling plants and a venting apparatus, and to prepare corresponding tender documents for the implementation.
The aim of the detailed planning is to create tender packages for each refrigeration line, which enables the customer to request and implement the renovation of a respective refrigeration line as required.
